Tongue frenulum

– the beginning, middle or endpath to a beautiful and healthy smile.

When looking for the beauty of a smile, the tongue turns out to be an important element.

Maybe it’s fashion or maybe I’m old-fashioned, but let’s free as many tongues as possible.

Not only the smile, but the lives of these patients will change.

A short frenulum of the tongue may be one of the factors that also predispose to sleep apnea in children.

Temporomandibular joint! What does the language say?

  • the tongue placed on the mandible puts excessive strain on it and hinders proper motor coordination of the tongue-mandibular complex
  • the tongue positioned on the mandible may encourage the head and neck to move forward, which causes the retraction of the mandible and increases compression in the ssj
  • the tongue placed on the jaw may force an inappropriate way of breathing – through the mouth,
  • The tongue placed on the lower jaw presses on the front teeth, which may cause them to tilt.

The correct position of the tongue in the oral cavity also affects the maintenance of the results of orthodontic treatment. Retention treatment is as important as orthodontic treatment itself. The bite is not stable and unchanged throughout life. Teeth move, change their position, “wander” – this is a natural process that occurs regardless of orthodontic treatment. With age, the face changes, the bones and the position of the teeth change. When the muscles (abductors and adductors of the jaw, tongue and other muscles) are out of balance, the risk of recurrence of the defect is greater. To minimize the possibility of recurrence of malocclusion, the muscles of the mouth and face should be balanced so that the teeth are in the so-called neutral zone. The tongue is the body’s strongest muscle and the best retention device, so tongue re-education should also be performed during orthodontic treatment.

Thank you to all my wonderful speech therapists with whom I work.

We learn together, we heal together, we conquer new peaks.

Is your tongue working properly?

Can you touch all your teeth with your tongue?

Why do we pay attention to this?

  • To prevent malocclusion
  • To keep your baby oxygenated
  • So that malocclusion does not recur after orthodontic treatment
  • So that there are no speech defects

NOT EVERY HEART is worth sinning.

I will add that mainly the anterior overgrown frenulums of the tongue curl the tongue into a heart shape.

POSTERIOR frenulums camouflage well and are treacherous.

Send it to a specialist – a speech therapist knows.

Malocclusions have various causes – it is worth finding the cause:

  1. crooked teeth
  2. improper breathing – oversized tonsils (improper breathing may lead to cerebral hypoxia and apnea)
  3. child chewing food incorrectly (saliva or food falling out of the mouth)

Orthodontic treatment is not a beautiful smile.

It’s your child’s health.

Take care of your child’s healthy smile

– you will change not only your child’s smile, but their whole life.
